Perfume consumers are craving cinnamon and banana perfumes.
August 13, 2026
By: Lianna Albrizio
As the gourmand trend richens into 2026, food continues to serve as perfumery’s delectable muse.
Analysts at Spate say food-inspired scents are dominating shelves and social feeds, with cinnamon perfume topping the list at 260.0% compared to last year. While still a low-popularity trend, Google owns 71.1% of its Popularity Share, up 171.1% year-over-year (YoY). The trend averages 6,100 monthly Google searches and 45,200 weekly TikTok views, analysts say. On TikTok, cinnamon perfume has Very High Paid Views Share (93.9%) and Very High Shop Views Share (93.5%), suggesting much of the conversation is driven by brand partnerships and TikTok Shop.
Related content spans eau de parfum (52,300 weekly views) and hair mists (1,100), showing consumers are embracing cinnamon across formats. Videos also highlight fall (860.0) fragrance recommendations and layering combinations with vanilla (583.0), reflecting growing interest in gourmand scents that evoke everything from warm spices to cinnamon buns.
Banana perfume follows close behind, up 222.5% compared to last year, analysts say. Another low-popularity trend, TikTok now owns 69.8% of its Popularity Share, growing 560.7% YoY. While Google search volume remains modest at 720.0 average monthly searches, the trend generates 191,200 weekly TikTok views and earns a positive sentiment score of 8.3/10. Consumers are exploring banana-inspired scents across perfumes (175,900 average weekly views), body mists (8,400) and lotions (5,400), with content centered on fragrance reviews (12,900), affordable (17,400) finds, and summer (18,700) scent recommendations.
Analysts say the trend’s bright, fruity profile aligns with warm-weather fragrance preferences, while brands like Le Monde Gourmand (34,000) and Sttes (31,800) are driving interest. On Reddit, fragrance enthusiasts are also debating banana’s place in perfumery, from questions around its bee pheromone association to broader discussions around the rise of unconventional gourmand notes.
